Ordered the sushi set via DoorDash. Fish was fresh, rice was seasoned well. They also had a good assortment of sushi and sashimi options. Would order again.
This is one of my favorite Japanese restaurants. They have great service and everything was delicious. I really like the unagi rice and the miso clam soup.
Make sure you join the royalty program when you pay for your bill because you will come again and again. I was skeptical of how the food and service of a restaurant in the mall could be, I was terribly wrong. The sashimi fresh and sweet, the rolls perfectly executed every time, the lunch and dinner sets satisfying and also perfectly cooked whether it's flaky salmon or crunchy and juicy tonkatsu. You must visit Sanraku. The one menu item that's a bit out of the norm but so incredibly good is their aigamo duck. Tender and flavorful duck that can compete with the best French restaurant - it's a rare treat.
This might be an under the radar sushi spot because it's located in the mall but the quality of the sushi is exceptional. Highly recommend getting the Sushi Tokujo. I get it every single time and it definitely does not miss to satisfy your sushi and nigiri cravings! Ambiance is good, not too loud or busy and the service is fine.
This place was recommended to us and this is by far our favorite sushi place in San Jose. Each dish is made well and the quality is nearly comparable to the ones you have at a good restaurant in Japan. Each nigiri, sashimi, and sushi roll are delicious. The California roll is noteworthy in itself. I'm always looking forward to coming back.
Sanraku's sushi is really good, don't let the location fool you. This isn't your average mall sushi, getting sashimi or nigiri here is worth it. One star knocked off just because of the sheer price. I ordered 2 piece chutoro nigiri (fatty bluefin tuna), 6 piece sashimi appetizer with all sake (salmon), and a beef bowl for my entree. Totaled to around $60 after tax and tip. Granted, it was a lot of stuff, but I was still surprised. The chutoro was so yummy and melt-in-your-mouth, and the sake nigiri wasn't fishy at all. Everything was fresh! The beef bowl was kinda eh, I could've done without it. Just some ground beef and veggies (spinach, green onions, onions, and the like) on a bed of rice. I'd rather try a different entree next time I come to Sanraku, maybe something seafood based. Ambiance is decent and the service is very quick to respond, there's a lot of parking nearby due to virtue of it being inside Oakridge Mall. Glad that there's an authentic Japanese spot in South San Jose thanks to Sanraku.
We were feeling some sushi for lunch and decided to go to Sanraku, which we had heard of but never tried before. It's located in the mall, but don't let that deter you from trying it out, we enjoyed our experience! The place offers dishes consisting of fish imported from Japan, although we didn't order any of those. We had Maguro (tuna) and Sake (salmon) nigiri, dynamite roll, miso black cod, and the lunch box with gyoza, California roll, and sesame chicken. The nigiri obviously didn't compare to what's found in Japan, but it was on the fresher side relative to other nigiri I've had in and around San Jose. I will say though there was not enough vinegar taste for my liking, but thats a problem with nigiri everywhere I've been in the states so far. I'm not a huge roll person but I thought the dynamite roll was tasty, and the others really liked it. We were also very pleasantly surprised by how good the sesame chicken was! Based on that one sample I would definitely be willing to try the other non sushi items on the menu. I didn't try the cod, but others who ate it said it was good. Prices were fairly standard for a sushi spot in the bay. Not cheap but not too expensive.
Time to eat lunch! Finally got the chance to try this place even thought I've lived in the area for majority of my life LOL took me a while. The family was strolling around the mall and it was getting closer to lunch time. I like how they use Yelp as their reservation system and I managed to snag a reservation for 3 at 12:15 pm on a Sunday. The outdoor dining area was busy and the indoor dining was busy as well. Classy interior of a sushi bar and restaurant. I ordered a dynamite roll for myself and my mom and sister got their lunch box bentos. NOTE: Their bentos are only available from 11 am - 4 pm. The dynamite roll was satisfactory. Good slices of spicy tuna and shrimp tempura, but I wish each roll slice had more portion size. My mom and sister loved their bento boxes, so I'm content. The only dislike was how long the wait was for the bento boxes-- took about 15 - 20 minutes for it to arrive. Would try again for their eel bowl.
